Venango SAL Chili Cook Off

The small town of Venango Ne has been the site for a chili cook off since December 1994. Since 1996 the Venango Sons of the American Legion have sponsored the event. The first year there was doubt if any chilis would show up at all. Since then it has become an annual event looked forward to by many, each hoping they will have the best chili for the year.

This site is to keep everyone informed of the Venango Sons of the American Legion's (SAL) activities with upcoming and past Cook Offs. Posted will be pictures of past Cook Offs and information about the next upcoming event. There will be pictures of both past winners and special guests that helped with the judging or just attended along with pictures taken the night of the Cook Off.

The 13th Annual Venango Sons of the American Legion Chili Cook Off has been set for January 27th, 2007.

Once again this year the Venango SAL is honored to have as special guests Mrs Ne 2006 Jennifer Bradley, Mrs Colo 2006 Marney Duckworth and Mrs Wyo 2006 Aimee McWilliams.

The 3 Queens that are scheduled to judge this year were all top 10 finalists in the Mrs America Pageant with Mrs Colo 2006 Marney Duckworth finishing 1st runner up. It is an honor for the Venango SAL to have these ladies on hand to help with the judging.

Chilis will start being accepted at 3:00pm on the 27th with judging to begin at 4:00. As in years past the public will be invited to sample the chilis starting at 6:00 on a free will donation basis.
